I was in Pontian, Johor Bahru, in Malaysia celebrating Chinese New Year with my extended family this year when we all chanced upon this. Lucky us!
It had been raining then, if I remember correctly, so the sky was overcast from noon till evening. We all knew a solar eclipse would happen now, so we took a piece of black polaroid paper (at least I think that’s it) from a CD case and cut it up into pieces. Each of us held a piece to our eye and viewed the sun through it.
